    Halloween Happenings in Boca Raton

As we roll into the autumn months and Halloween we pray that the summer humidity will begin to dissipate, it’s the perfect time to start ticking off all the seasonal activities from your checklist! Pumpkin patches, costume parties and of course fall flavored everything. Sit back relax and enjoy the hard cider because we have done all the hard work for you! Check out our top picks for this weeks five in the hive!

    1. You can’t properly celebrate the month of October without picking out the perfect pumpkin. Check out Benders Farm Fresh Market, Saint Ambrose, First United Methodist Church or one of the many other pumpkin providers this October season! Try your hand at the corn maze, take a festive hayride and pig out on holiday treats all right here in our favorite city! Don’t worry if you can’t make it to a patch during the weekend — most pumpkin patches in boca will be operating all week long, you’ll have plenty of time to get your sweet fall fix!
    2. Try to go unnoticed while creeping your way through Enigma Haunt. This scarier than life haunted house will have chills running down your spine, as you dodge through all three of their haunted house adventures! Grab your pals and try not to scream — see how fast you can make it out before the creepy crawlies come for you!
    3. Round the troops and head to Sugar Sand Park for their 13th Annual Shriek Week! A perfect event for the entire family, with a little thrill and a lot of chill! Get a sneak peak at the spooky film festival, take a stroll down the trick or treat trail, pop into the not so haunted house and see how long you can tame a boa constrictor. Shriek Week will have you and your family cracking up all night long!
    4. Artists and paintings will be overflowing the room on Hallows Eve at Tanzy’s Halloween Happy Hour. Dress up as your favorite piece of art and dive head first into a fun evening of costumes and cocktails. Door prizes will be available for the best solo and group costumes and proceeds will benefit the Museum’s Field Trip Fund for schools that are underserved! A great cause and a cultural night — you may just learn a little more history than you bargained for!
    5. Get spooktacular during Halloween at the Addison — this lavish party will be alive and well all night long! Delve in delicious halloween themed cocktails and tasty bites but not before you experience the haunted rooms throughout the Addison. Don’t be fooled thought, this trick certainly comes with a big treat — benefits will go directly to Slow Burn Theatre Co. a not for profit theatre company right here in South Florida!

#SoooBoca is simply filled with fabulous events around town for you to get your “shriek” or decorate your home with pumpkins! Happy Halloween everyone!

September 2017 Real Estate Newsletter & Fundraiser

    Fundraiser for the Florida Keys

    Hello Friends,

The last few weeks have been hard on everyone dealing with Hurricane Irma. I hope you are well and if you need
any assistance please reach out to friends, neighbors, family and even myself.

As you scroll down you will see we have planned an amazing fundraiser for the Florida Keys.

Let me also wish you a very happy Rosh Hashanah and wishing all who celebrate a sweet New Year filled with love,
    health and peace!

I am sending this out today to let you know about a fundraiser that I am part of for our friends that were devastated by
the storm in the Florida Keys.

Our family has great memories spending a ton of time in the Keys and we also have a property in Key Largo.

We luckily had little damage but it was very hit and miss. We had a house guest here from Key Largo and happy to
report his home was in decent shape. The neighbor next door however did not fair as well.

We plan to enjoy many more years in Key Largo and adjoining Keys and know the people there are resilient and strong.

Join us on September 28th at Tim Finnegans from 6 pm – 10 pm in Delray Beach.

This is a benefit concert fundraiser and you can click the link for ticket and donation details.

We are in need of auction items for a ” mystery box” live auction so if you would like to donate something please let me know.

    Wild Florals

Out with the pristine and in with the imperfect. Time to ditch the impeccably arranged peonies and roses. Wild flowers are the go for your autumn-inspired wedding. A colorful arrangement of soft washed florals of all shapes and sizes can add that unique element you have been longing for.

    Halloween Elegance

I know what your thinking! Halloween = Scary = Not wedding appropriate. BUT hear me out. Think “dark enchanted elegance” — Dark tones, crystal glasses, romantic florals, black tie ball. This strays far from your “classic elegance” but, if done right, will exceed your expectations of the wedding of your dreams.

How to Choose Your Ride in Boca Raton

Planes, trains and automobiles and yes limousines — getting to and from Boca Raton should be the least of your worries. When planning your trip to one of South Florida’s most exclusive destinations a little guidance is in order. Traveling by air can always be a tad stressful, but with three major airports surrounding the Boca area, your options are much greater and easier to navigate. The toughest part of a travel day is the transportation to the airport but with the info below, your travel day should be as easy as 1..2..3..

Boca Raton has a plethora of private car and limousine services available all around town. Arrive in style or make a casual get away with the many choices that are available in the city. Avanti Limousine Service, Boca Lux Limo, Black Pearl Limousine and A1A Limo are some of the excellent local companies — just to name a few— bringing you to and from any of the major airports, Miami, West Palm or pretty much anywhere else you’d like to go. You can set up your service by calling or emailing the agency of your choice, a quick google search will give you even more to choose from. Have your flight info ready if you need an airport pick up or your destination available for an immediate price quote when you arrange your ride.

Another great option is Lyft or Uber — not too much needs to be said about these on demand services. A convenient, affordable option to a private car service. All you need is a smartphone and about a three minute notice before scheduling a car on one of these awesome apps. Miami, Fort Lauderdale and Palm Beach international airports all have designated pick up locations for both Lyft and Uber available — making it a super simple way to get to and from the tarmac at the ease of your fingertips.

If you are more of a traditional soul, taxi services are also available in #SoooBoca on demand. Not as reliable as the aforementioned, but still an option nonetheless. If big yellow cars do it for you, 1-800-TaxiCab are the digits you will want to dial.

And of course with your good looks and great personality you may even be able to score a ride around Boca Raton from a good friend or family member. But remember please be sure to tip and say please and thank you!

Public Safety Alerts: Opt In & Sign Up Before the Next Named Storm

    CodeRED sign up Newsflash

In the event of a hurricane or serious emergency, the City’s communication team will keep you updated with public safety alerts. Messaging may include information about city services, available resources and evacuations.

When Hurricane Matthew threatened South Florida last September, the City sent a Code Red alert message to subscribed Boca Raton residents letting them know when the Emergency Operations Center was activated. Once activated, the City and the Police Department worked together to provide updates on Twitter, Facebook and Nixle. The Citizens Information Center (CIC) opened and began taking calls from residents and providing support and assistance. Boca Raton’s CIC is staffed with volunteers who are available to answer calls before, during and after the storm.

This year, residents have an additional opportunity for communication and information through AlertPBC. AlertPBC is a Palm Beach County Emergency Notification system that provides all County updates, in addition to City updates. AlertPBC may be especially beneficial for those who live in Boca Raton and work elsewhere in the County, or vice versa.

Getting the right information to the right people at the right time allows individuals to make informed decisions for themselves, their families and their businesses. To stay connected before, during and after a storm, be sure to sign up and opt in to receive public safety alerts.

    1. Text your zip code to 888777 to receive Nixle public safety alerts from the Boca Raton Police Department.
    2. Sign up for Code Red to receive emergency alerts for City residents from the City of Boca Raton.
    3. Sign up for AlertPBC to receive Palm Beach County alerts that include Boca Raton alerts and other cities you choose.
    4. Follow the City of Boca Raton on Facebook & Twitter.

Hurricane season runs from June 1st to November 30th with the peak period from early August through the end of October. Although
the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) is forecasting a below-normal hurricane season this year,
they also caution that coastal areas may not have it all that easy. According to a comment made by the Federal Emergency Management
Agency’s (FEMA’s) Deputy Administrator, Joseph Nimmich, “It only takes one hurricane or tropical storm making landfall in your community
to significantly disrupt your life!” As part of our Hurricane Preparedness Kit, here are several tips that homeowners and renters can take before a hurricane strikes:

    1. Have a basic emergency kit, which includes battery-powered radios, flashlights,
water, non-perishable food, a first-aid kit and prescription medications.

    2. Keep a written list in a plastic bag of important phone numbers. This can include numbers of family members
in other states, local emergency management and shelters, hospitals, your homeowner’s insurance rep. or for renters,
    the landlord or property manager.

    3. From very early on, homeowners should verify their property insurance to see how much coverage they have,
and if necessary, increase coverage especially for personal property. Renters should obtain renters insurance on their
    personal belongings.

    4. Know your evacuation route, have alternative living arrangements and keep your car fueled should an evacuation
be necessary. Storing extra cans of gasoline in a safe place is also a plus.

    5. Homeowners should make sure that there are storm shutters to cover all windows and sliding glass doors. If
you cannot install them, make sure you have someone lined up early who can complete the installation.

    6. Renters should review their lease to verify who is responsible for installing storm shutters. If you are responsible
for the installation of the shutters, make sure you know where they are located and verify that there are sufficient
shutters to cover all glass windows and doors.

    7. Have surge protectors on all major appliances, televisions, computers and other major electronic equipment.
Also, generators are excellent for diminishing the damage that can result from abrupt power outages.

    8. Secure or remove potential windborne objects around the home such as garbage cans, barbecue grills, yard furniture
    and kids’ outdoor toys.

    9. Be sure trees and shrubs around your home are well trimmed so they are more wind resistant.

    10. Determine how and where to secure your boat, RV, and additional vehicles. There are also a number of online resources you can
visit, including the National Hurricane Center: www.nhc.noaa.govFEMA , and Palm Beach County Emergency Management
