Skip the “What Should We Do Tonight?” Debate
Let’s be real. Date night looks different now than it did at 25, and I think it’s better.
We know what we like. We don’t need to be seen at the hottest table at 9:45 p.m. We want a good meal, a comfortable chair, a place where we can actually hear each other, and an evening that feels like a treat.
Whether you’ve been married for thirty years, you’re newly dating again, or you’re two friends who decided to make a night of it, Boca has plenty to offer. I’ve lived in South Florida since 1978, and these are the kinds of evenings I love. PS…if you are visiting and thinking of making the move to Boca, check out one of my most popular blog posts!

1. Sunset Dinner on the Water
Kasumi at the Waterstone Resort & Marina on Lake Boca offers elevated Japanese cuisine on the waterfront. It’s the kind of dinner where nobody rushes you and the view does half the work.
Our chapter tip: Book an early reservation so you catch the sunset, and ask for a table with a view when you call.
2. A Candlelit Style Italian Evening
Trattoria Romana and Il Mulino New York both have a reputation for intimate, special-occasion dining. Think handmade pasta, a good glass of wine, and conversation that lasts through dessert.
Our chapter tip: When you reserve, ask for a quieter table. A cozy corner makes all the difference.
3. Mizner Park, All in One Stop
This is my favorite “no stress” date. Start at the Boca Raton Museum of Art, then catch a concert at the Mizner Park Amphitheater if one is scheduled. Dinner is steps away, so you can skip the extra driving and parking hunt.
Our chapter tip: Check the amphitheater calendar first, and ask about seating if you prefer something comfortable and close to the action.
4. Dress Up and Feel Fabulous
Some nights call for a great outfit and a polished room. Sushi by Bou at Royal Palm Place and La Nouvelle Maison in downtown Boca bring the style. If you love a classic steakhouse, Meat Market is lively, with a live DJ on select nights, so it’s a fun pick when you want energy.
Our chapter tip: Lively rooms can be loud. If you want to chat, go early or on a weeknight and ask what the noise level is like.
5. Learn Something Together
A couples’ cooking class at Sur La Table gives you something to do besides sit across a table. You’ll laugh, you’ll share a task, and you’ll leave with a new recipe. It’s also a perfect way to reconnect when life has been busy.
The Sooo60ish Date Night Checklist
- Go early. Early reservations mean easier parking, calmer rooms, and a happier evening.
- Ask about the noise. A quick question when you reserve can save the night.
- Check the parking. Ask about valet or the closest garage so your evening starts smoothly.
- Mention seating needs. Restaurants are usually glad to accommodate a booth, a chair with arms, or a spot close to the entrance.
- Make it a weeknight. Better tables, easier service, and the same great food.
- Plan the whole evening. A walk, a show, or dessert somewhere new turns dinner into an event.

Why This Town Works So Well for This Chapter
After 22+ years of helping people settle in here, I’ve noticed that the people who love Boca the most aren’t just in love with their homes. They love how easy it is to live well: walkable downtown spots, the water, wonderful restaurants, and evenings that feel like a getaway close to home.
If you’re thinking about downsizing, relocating, or simply living closer to all of this, a night out is a lovely way to picture what daily life could feel like.
So grab your person, put on something you love, and go.
