This neighborhood is also unique because it is built around a canal system that does lead to the ocean. Many of the houses have waterfront views which is ideal for boat lovers (just know there are fixed bridges throughout the community), paddle boarders and jet skiers.

There are multiple small public parks nearby. Silver Palm Park is located on the intercostal and also has the city boat ramp — it’s a great spot for people-watching.

Hillsboro Il Rio Park North, is one of the newer parks in the area— it is tucked behind 18th street and Dixie Highway, there is a brand new basketball court, baseball field and soccer field available to the public.

History of Royal Oak Hills

Royal Oak Hills was built in the 1960’s! Yup you heard it here. This neighborhood was originally designed to cater to those that were looking for a vacation home or for retirement in Boca Raton.

They even had a “model” row of homes to preview and choose from near the main entrance on Camino Real.

The neighborhood has maintained the essence of old Florida, transporting you right back in time with single-level homes, big windows and pools galore.

Some of the original models can still be seen throughout the neighborhood, such as the the Brookfield model which originally sold for $27,900 a bargain compared to the pricing today.
