    Art Boca Raton 2018

Truly one of my new favorite events in beautiful Boca Raton! The Vernissage of Art Boca Raton 2018 was on Wednesday night this week and OMG…to view these magnificent pieces of art and some sooo historical by the way is just a wonderful way to spend an evening. There is nothing like sipping an icy cold glass of champagne and lite bites while walking through the 45,000 sq. foot white tent directly on Florida Atlantic University campus and watching the sun set while private jets take off into the dimming Boca Raton sky.

Click on the video to experience just a tiny bit of what I enjoyed this week…then get your tickets to Art Boca Raton 2018…you can thank me later!

This is the 3rd annual Art Boca Raton 2018 event and is from March 14 -18th. The gallery owners  and artists are all wonderful to speak to and very knowledgeable. The art is very special and it is an amazing way to lose yourself wandering around and seeing such unique and different perspectives. Kudos to the Boca Raton Museum of Art and the organizers of this fabulous not to miss event!

As a huge music fan I could not get enough of Robin Austin’s very cool art showcasing some of my favorite artists like David Bowie, The Beatles and Mick Jagger…and of course the icon Marilyn Monroe. Speaking of Marilyn…I am going to ask the organizers how many “Marilyns” were represented at the show as I saw at least 4 or 5 I think. All different and all well #soooverymarilynmonroe.

Thanks for buzzin’ by and getting your “art on”. Don’t forget to subscribe to #SoooBoca and our social media channels. We love this town and enjoy sharing it with all of you!

    Coffee Spots in Boca Raton

    Coffee in Boca

Where to Go For Coffee in Boca Raton…Look No Further!

I don’t know about you but as a busy Realtor with listings and property showings “coffee” is a main food staple for this gal on the go! Sooo…today’s #SoooBoca’s “Five in the Hive” focus is Coffee in Boca! Where is the best coffee in Boca you ask? I can assure you that coffee roasters are alive and well in our fabulous town and that our residents and visitors are very passionate about the spots they sip their coffee at! Frankly there are more than five spots we love and we update this post a couple of times a year so keep reading!

    Coffee Boca

Boca is a mecca for small business owners — this city takes pride in buying local and supporting our neighborhood shops. We love to check out different spots to share with our followers. Of course we enjoy the occasional Starbucks or a quick pit stop at Dunkin’ Donuts, but what we really love is the home brewed stuff. The slow roasted, cozy sitting cup of coffee. That being said, today’s ‘Five in the Hive’ is salutes some of our local coffee shops!

Here is a very unscientific poll I did on Nextdoor and here are the results of what type of coffee 52 people who responded liked or at least gave their input on:

10 Reasons To Fly Private via Boca Executive Airport!

Did you know you can fly into Boca Raton just as quickly as you can fly out! Why not fly private into and out of Boca Executive airport or as “locals” call it Boca Exec! Perhaps you have a meeting here or flying in for an FAU football game or a fabulous dinner …or just maybe you want to “land” that perfect waterfront property!  The airport is rich with history and has been part of Boca Raton since 1936. Big PS…flying to Minneapolis for the Superbowl…better book now Dano! So many flight options so little time! Check out the different flight companies right on site at Boca Exec!

During WWII Boca Exec served as a base for air-sea patrol, and a weigh station for planes being ferried to Europe.   Sitting along Airport Road you can see planes and gorgeous jets taking flight and landing daily with that gorgeous Boca blue sky as a backdrop or the FAU Football Stadium or both!

A Few Fun Boca Exec Flying Facts

    • The Airport encompasses 214 acres between Spanish River Boulevard and Glades Road. The Airport’s runway 5/23 is 6,276 feet long and 150 feet wide, with a full-length 40-foot wide parallel taxiway.
    • FAA Contract Tower located on the field. The Tower is open daily from 7:00 AM to 11:00 PM
    • Two full-service Fixed Based Operators (FBOs) are located at the Airport. Each FBO offers a range of amenities, such as fueling, ground handling, aircraft storage, conference rooms, catering, and limousine service.
    • Onsite Customs and Border Protection facility (coming soon) enabling international flights to fly directly into the Boca Raton Airport instead of first stopping at another airport to go through customs.

25 Places to Eat, Stay and To Do In Islamorada and The Florida Keys

#SoooBoca and Company Love the Florida Keys

My husband and I had our first long weekend date away in Key Largo and Tavernier back in 1988 and of course we went fishing and spent time at Holiday Isle and the Tiki Bar. We have loved introducing our daughters Kylie and Alle to the Florida Keys to enjoy all the things we have from fishing, to sunsets to just chillin’ out and hanging with the fam.

    1988 Holiday Isle – Islamorada

(Scroll to the bottom for show note links)

In the weeks that followed the storm the #SoooBoca squad helped coordinate a local fundraiser at Tim Finnegans in Delray Beach to raise over $25,000.00 to help those in need in the Florida Keys. In December, the mom of the #SoooBoca squad, that would be me, put together a video of some of our trips down to the Keys and shared it on Facebook, Instagram and YouTube to remind people to visit the Florida Keys, spend money there, charter a boat and support the local businesses.

    Cue the fabulous Alina Davis!

Alina is an amazing human and fellow Realtor with Coldwell Banker Schmitt! As my little December video was up and out there Alina, who lives in Islamorada, started commenting on what was open, going to open, still closed and clearly has an amazing finger on the pulse throughout the Keys!

So I said “Alina, would you be game to do a Facebook Live interview with me via #SoooBoca and lets talk about all these places that are open and getting ready to reopen and the state of the charter fishing industry and what not”… and she said YES!

Summer time, summer time, sum sum summertime is here baby!

It is time to breath a bit and hit the beaches and boy do we have amazing beaches in #bocaraton.

I grew up hanging out at Red Rocks (now Red Reef) and still am amazed at the beauty of our local Boca beaches.

    boca beach-724328__340

From Spanish River Park to Red Reef to the Palmetto Pavilion and county run (yup) South Beach Inlet at Camino Real there are many choices for diving, snorkeling, fishing, boating and of course simply relaxing and building your dream home ie. the sandcastle. There is even a dog friendly beach up at Spanish River Park!

Intertwined with parks that have space to BBQ with picnic tables and playgrounds you can simply take a drive up A1A and pick from a variety of lovely beaches! We are so lucky that the city had the infinite wisdom to protect our miles of beaches here for future generational enjoyment.

We love to go to the beaches no matter what time of year it is. There’s are the surfers, the sailers, the coffee drinkers and the bikers all overlapping and converging on our beautiful beaches. At anytime you can find solace at the beach with the lure of the Atlantic Ocean at your feet. The calm sound of the waves draws you in as you gaze out to the horizon watching birds, fish jump and fishing boats heading out to fish or coming home for the day.

50 Shades of White Paint (Poke My Eye Out With a Paint Brush)

Holy 50 Shades of White Paint

The time came a year ago to pick out white paint for the interior of our home… freshen up…to give a face lift (hey we live in Boca) to our walls. My husband and I really collaborate well on house and home project as as he grew up in the plumbing industry and I studied interior design for about a minute in college before I switched my major to advertising. We both like neutral walls as we add pops of color and yes fish as in a sailfish on the wall to our abode.

The color names sound like the perfect Instagram life by the way!

My design feel for our home is beachy elegant with a Florida Keys feel…so I prefer a blank and yes white canvas for our wall color so I can play around with pictures, change my furniture at whim (thank you bulk Mondays, thrift stores and garage sales), and I just think it suits our “beach house” not on the beach really well.  We also have a ton of color coming in the windows via palm trees, blue skies and our pool which we see from all our main rooms.

With that being said now I was in cool or warm white hell…do we go with Roman Column or Eggshell? Did we want a white paint that is more beige, grey, pink or yellow?  What is a hue vs a tint? Where do we even paint some walls to see how the “sunlight” glints off of the colors? I was in white paint hades!

And by the way…thank you to Gina from The Shabby Chick Cottage and Instagram home decor influencers which helped me realize there is no shame in going neutral…phew…as I was sweating it out on that one:)

The other kicker was we had flooring picked out already so moving  a 24 x 24 inch polished marble sample around was making the husband cranky. By the way…definitely shop around for flooring! I got a crazy closeout price and negotiated it down even more (hey I am a Realtor, it is what I do baby). Never settle for the posted price cuz you can buy extra and then sell it on Facebook marketplace or your own home decor and resale page like this one.

One thing I do very well however is make decisions quickly. I don’t dwell too long on comparing things which includes when I buy cars…hmmm…I see a trend here as my Cadillac SRX is platinum white…maybe that is the color I need to go with for my baseboards. Do they make a ” Cadillac Platinum White” at Sherwin Williams? (PS…update…they are a shiny platinum white)

So for my life a year ago I was stuck in 50 Shades of White…Paint That Is…hell…waiting for the sun to come up so I can see which wall I prefered.

Click here for a fabulous and comprehensive list of white pain –  Elle Magazine’s list for 2018

Names like Super White, Chantilly Lace, Crisp Linen from Benjamin Moore and Extra White and Mercer White from Sherwin Williams or perhaps Design Studio White by Ralph Lauren sound sooo romantic! They are not!! It is an endless list that sucks you in until you think your hair will simply turn some shade of white LOL! ut there is a white paint out there that will work for your style and taste!

If you have had the same “white paint” struggle…please share what color and brand you liked with me so I can check it out!

We did go with Sherwin Williams Mercer White (google it or check out at www.myperfectcolor.com) and I love it still a year later! What you need to know is that there is a white paint out there waiting for you and your home or condo…don’t despair…your white paint can will come in and you will have the perfect “shade” of white paint very very soon!
